## Overview

Working in close partnership with Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council, Focus BC acted as both integrator and software provider, delivering its [City as a Platform](https://city-platform.com/ "City as a Platfomr") solution powered by [Google Maps and Google Cloud](https://www.focus-bc.com/google/ "Google Maps and Cloud").

Through a consultative approach, Focus BC supported the municipality in building a unified smart city ecosystem under the B-Smart Famalicão program.

## The Challenge

As part of its smart city strategy, the municipality launched the B-Smart Famalicão program to create a greener, more inclusive, and innovative city.

To achieve this vision, the city needed a digital solution capable of:

-   Integrating data from multiple and disconnected sources
    
-   Supporting different municipal departments and workflows
    
-   Enabling cross-domain analysis
    
-   Improving operational efficiency and decision-making
    

## The Solution

Focus BC implemented City as a Platform as the core of the B-Smart ecosystem.

The platform acts as a centralized data hub, continuously aggregating and structuring information from multiple sources. By combining data layers into a single map-centric interface, it enables:

-   Greater transparency and citizen engagement

## About the Client

Vila Nova de Famalicão is a Portuguese municipality with around 133,000 inhabitants across 201.59 km². It stands out as one of the country’s key cultural, commercial, and industrial centers.

With a strong and diverse economic base, the municipality hosts some of Portugal’s leading companies across multiple industries. It has been actively investing in modernizing its services to increase attractiveness for both citizens and businesses.
