City as a Platform wins the Government & Citizen Engagement category by WSA Portugal 2025

We’re thrilled to share some big news that marks a major achievement not just for City as a Platform, but for Focus BC as a whole.

Our product City as a Platform has been selected as the most innovative digital solution in Portugal in the Government & Citizen Engagement category by WSA Portugal 2025, an initiative coordinated by APDC, a national entity that promotes the development of digital innovation in Portugal.This means we will proudly represent Portugal on the global stage, competing with solutions from more than 180 countries at the World Summit Awards.

The WSA is one of the world’s leading competitions for digital innovation with social impact. Promoted by the United Nations and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the awards were created to spotlight technology that improves lives, reduces the digital divide, and makes innovation more accessible. Since 2003, they’ve recognised solutions that drive real change and we’re honoured to be part of that story.

Each year, APDC selects 8 national winners across categories such as Health, Education, Sustainability, Urbanization, and Government Engagement. Being chosen in the Government & Citizen Engagement category is a proud moment for us!

What is City as a Platform?

City as a Platform is an urban management platform that empowers local governments to make faster, smarter, and more transparent decisions. It provides an integrated view of the territory by combining data from IoT sensors, public services, mobility, and urban infrastructure. This helps municipalities of all sizes improve efficiency and citizen engagement.

City as a Platform now moves on to the international phase of the competition. As one of the winners of WSA Portugal 2025, it will take part in the WSA global contest alongside digital solutions from around the world. In the coming months, we’ll participate in global jury evaluations and pitch sessions, with the chance to be shortlisted and featured at the WSA Global Congress 2026 in Vienna.
