Focus BC is a young team making a difference in the location intelligence landscape. We are growing, and we are looking for a dynamic GIS Technician being able to manipulate, process and analyze geographic data and make it available to location intelligence applications.

Responsibilities:

Be part of project teams;
Manipulate, process and analyze geographic data;
Setup and configure GIS software components and Focus BC products;
Deliver training sessions to customers;
Support customers helping them to get the best out of their Focus BC projects and products;
Support the sales teams;
Participate in presentations and demonstrations to potential clients;
Implement proofs-of-concept, and prototypes for potential customers.

Requirements:

Knowledge of relational databases, PostgreSQL with PostGIS is a plus;
Knowledge of Web GIS servers, Geoserver is preferred;
Knowledge of GIS desktop applications, QGis is preferred;
Must be a team player, we treasure our amazingly friendly work environment;
Strong communication, organization, and time-management habits;
Reliable and independent meaning you don't need someone double-checking your work;
Academic training in Geographic Sciences.

Nice to Have:

Knowledge of HTML5, CSS 3 and Javascript;
Ability to use a scripting language to automate repetitive tasks (python, node or other);
Know your way around Linux operating systems.
